Chronic CO2 deficiency hypothesis

Hello!

I had been wondering recently about one of Buteyko´s most central tenets regarding pathomechanisms and therapeutic mechanism, the idea that low levels of CO2 as reflected in low CP time are the main driver of dysfunctional breathing and other (150+) modern conditions.

While BHT does correlate to dysfunctional breathing patterns according to recent research, it seems that ETCO2 does not correlate positively to BHT, or may even have an inverse correlation!
Also, BHT seems to be affected by other factors and not only co2, such as comfort with breathing sensations, O2 concentration, mechanics of the diaphragm, etc
Buteyko´s formula of body concentration of CO2 has not been studied systematically in western contexts, and therefore, remains unproved.

Other mechanic, biochemical and psychophysiological mechanisms are been currently investigated as to understand how and if buteyko breathing method is able to produce change and induce a healthy physiology.

What are your thoughts regarding this subject?
Are there any published russian papers investigatin the correlation between Co2 and BHT?

Regards!

All of the above is based in the following synthesis reseach paper:

Hello, Cristobal,
I have old post on the NB site about this topic that we also discussed on some forum for teachers years ago.
Here is the link:

Thanks, Artour.

Great! Thanks, I´ll check that post out.

FYI, the website seems to be missing a part of your answer.
